Project Ramada Hotel

Supply, fabrication and installation of 160 tilt-and-turn windows over 6 of the hotel’s upper floors. Tilt mode allows safe window opening by the room occupant for ventilation. Turn mode means that the inward opening windows can be cleaned from inside the room with no need for expensive, specialist exterior cleaning equipment. Finished in dark brown as a cost effective alternative to match the more expensive bronze anodised finishes popular in the 1970-1980’s. Large panes to the ground floor dining and bar area were lifted into position by crane.  
 
Project Hendy Ford Showroom

Dual were asked to participate in Phase 2 of the prestigious Manor Bakeries development, visible from the southern end of the M3. All units were finished in metallic silver with large 3 metre wide glazing bays. Large horizontal aluminium sections were used to minimise deflection under self weight. For the glazing, special ‘Suncool Brilliant’ was installed to provide ultimate clarity into the showroom area. Large manual vehicle access sliding doors were also integrated.

The main entrance area incorporates automatic sliding doors and a unique system to conceal the vertical bars, giving the impression of a full glass wall. On site, all installation was carried out using powered scissor lifts and special glass lifting equipment helped to improve site safety and ease of installation.		  
 
Project Penner Road Havant

Dual’s first contract with this main Blackburn-based contractor was a project that followed our main site presentation to the lead contractor. At the time, it was the largest project undertaken by Dual at just under £250k. There was little day-to-day contact with the main contractor and our very specialist project management skills helped to ensure that the project ran extremely well.

Five units all had curtain wall screens installed with grey tinted glass and powder coated aluminium panels. One larger unit was fitted with commercial doors and windows – this unit housed six smaller modules - .all with grey tinted glass and powder coated aluminium panels.		  
 
Project Penner Road Havant

The second project with main Blackburn based contractor on the prestigious Penner Road Industrial/Commercial development in Havant, Hampshire. Dual were selected to manufacture, install and commission on the Coopers site because our performance on Project One was so impressive.

To maintain consistency with Project One, Dual installed a special facetted structure with curtain wall screens, all with grey tinted glass and powder coated aluminium panels.		  
 
Project Norma Slater Centre

The Slater Centre, at Newbury, was our first project working alongside Mowlem and we were asked to supply, fabricate and install the curtain wall screens and doors used on this project.

Our consultant engineer made the calculations for bar strength, wind loads and movement. We then designed unique brackets for the vertical bar used to support the brise soleil.

Our performancenow on this project encouraged Mowlem to place two further orders for more complex contracts on the same site.		  
 
Project United Reformed Church

This innovative church redevelopment turned a church with an enormous open space into a modern, yet sympathetic addition to a revived and popular urban area. The structure utilised facetted curtain wall screens and frameless glass doors to create a modern yet approachable façade that worked equally well in daylight or at night.  
 
Project Toyota

Supply, fabricate and install windows and doors for Waterlooville’s local Toyota dealership. It was policy to use only local firms on this project. All structural detail was finished in a light grey to blend with the chosen cladding. Clear glass for maximum light penetration and panels were used to mask columns. As the images show, the building design utilised brickwork structure on the ground floor and cladding for the first floor.  
 
Project Ocean Retail Park

Dual supplied, fabricated and installed all Shopfront glazing and automatic doors for PC World, Currys and Halfords on Portsmouth’s prestigious Ocean Retail Park. This was a first project for Withey Contracts, and Dual worked alongside the ‘typical’ site design by supplying everything in branded colours. White Trespa panels were used around the site to create a contrast to the vivid corporate marques.

Phase 2 of this project is starting in April 2007, and will include larger units for Homebase, Toys-R-Us, Carpetright and an entirely new retail unit. Dual are being asked to participate in this new phase.		  
 
Project Manor Bakeries Development

Phase 1
The Manor Bakeries’ site is visible to the side of the southbound carriageway of the M3. The high specification units are finished in several distinctive colours; White, Grey and Green (to match cladding). All units have large 3 metre wide automatic sliding doors to provide easy access.

Phase 2
A combination of Dual’s performance on the Manor Bakeries’ site and the Royal Court project helped secure a £260k contract to supply and install curtain walling and special glass to the showroom and offices for Hendy Ford on the same site.

This was Dual’s second project with this contractor.

The specification required the use of curtain wall screens with concealed opening windows (to hide the opening window locations from the outside to facilitate the appearance of a glass wall), standard windows and doors. We also installed facetted curtain walls as clearly shown in the pictures.
